Description
GNOMES’ GRAND ARMADA: TIDES OF TINKER AND WAR
A Mantic Games Naval War Event
“The seas stir with conflict, and even the smallest folk now command mighty fleets. Beneath banners of brass, smoke, and cunning design, the gnomes call all captains to prove their worth upon the waves.”
You are invited to a full-day Armada tournament where strategy, precision, and command of the seas will determine who rises above the rest. This event is designed to provide a structured but engaging competitive experience with varied scenarios, clear scoring, and a steady pace of play across the day.
Event Details
The tournament will take place on May 16th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Rollin’ with my Gnomies in Yulee, FL. Entry is $10, which includes your table fee and one complimentary drink. Players should plan to arrive on time for check-in and setup so that the first round can begin promptly.
Tournament Structure
This event will consist of four rounds of play for 8 to 9 players or five rounds for 10 players, each using a different scenario. If there is an odd number of players, there will be a "bye" player each round that will sit out. We will ask for volunteers for this first and then randomly choose players second. Every player will participate in all scenarios, and each table will have clearly printed scoring rules specific to that mission. Scenarios will not be announced or known ahead of time, requiring players to build flexible fleets and adapt to changing battlefield conditions throughout the day.
Rounds are expected to last approximately one hour and thirty minutes, resulting in a total playtime of roughly six to seven hours, which includes a scheduled thirty-minute break midway through the day.
Standard wind rules from the core game will be used throughout the event; no alternate wind rules will be in effect.
Prizes and Organizer Participation
Prize support will be awarded to first, second, and third place. The event organizer will participate only if there is an odd number of players or if a "bye" is agreed upon by all players; otherwise, they will focus on running demos and assisting with the event. Should the organizer place within the top three, any prize they would have earned will instead be passed down to the next eligible player in the rankings.
Schedule
The day will begin with check-in at 10:00 AM, followed by the first round at approximately 10:30 AM. The second round will begin around 12:00 PM. A thirty-minute break is scheduled for approximately 1:30 PM, after which the third round will begin at 2:00 PM and the fourth round at 3:30 PM. If there is a need for a fifth round, it is expected to start at around 5:00 PM. Final scoring, any required tiebreaker game, and prize distribution will take place between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
List Building Rules
All players must build a fleet totaling 250 points and must submit their list to the organizer (or to the Mantic Games Companion app) before the morning of May 16th. Lists should be finalized in advance to ensure smooth operation on the day of the event.
All standard list-building options are permitted with the following restrictions: Allied Vehicles, Support Vehicles, and Fortifications (Forts) are not allowed in this tournament. Outside of these exclusions, players are free to construct fleets according to normal rules.
Spellcasters and flyers are both permitted. Spellcasters are tiered upgrades assigned to a main battleship that grant access to a faction’s spell deck, with spells cast between rounds rather than during standard play. Players using spellcasters must bring either their official spell deck or a clearly organized substitute. Opponents are not required to field spellcasters for these abilities to be used.
Flyers follow special targeting rules. They cannot be targeted by ships and may only be attacked by other flyers. Players including flyers should be prepared to apply these rules consistently throughout the event.
Registration
To participate, players must register by submitting their name, contact information, and completed fleet list prior to the event date. Early submission is required to help ensure timely organization and round pairings. You will have the option to do this on the Mantic Companion App for official rankings.
Closing Note
This tournament is intended to balance competitive play with an enjoyable and thematic experience. Players are expected to come prepared, play fairly, and respect both their opponents and the shared game space.
The seas will not be kind, and no fleet is guaranteed safe passage. In a contest where even gnomish ingenuity can turn the tide, only those who command wisely will emerge victorious.
Prepare your ships. The tide is turning.
